Chris Taylor Responds to Dungeon Siege Delay

The fact that Dungeon Siege has been delayed for a few months is good news. It’s good because it is the only way to know for sure that the developers are doing all they can to make a good game. CGOnline has connected with Chris Taylor for a few insights into the reasoning and the outlook. Here’s a glimpse:

Q: Since the game has been delayed, it’s going to be released at the same time as a different set of games. Do you anticipate any competition you didn’t have before?

A: Call me crazy, but we focus on trying to build the best game we can. We don’t look over our shoulder, and we don’t worry about that stuff. We didn’t set the time because we paid attention to that stuff in the first place, so paying attention to it now isn’t going to help. It’s not going to solve any problems. To say that XYZ game that’s highly anticipated and just like ours is going to be launching the same month, we can’t delay our game another month, we can’t ship it early, there’s nothing we can do. It’s like with the weather. People get upset when it rains, but if you can’t change it, then don’t get upset about it. It’s just called life. If we deliver the best game that we can and deliver the highest quality product we can, then we’ve done our jobs and hey, there will be an extra $50 in somebody’s pocket to spend on it. It’s not something I lose any sleep over at all.

Very nice answer, and the way most developers ought to look at it.
