Champions of Norrath Reviews

A small handful of positive reviews for Sony and Snowblind’s Champions of Norrath have hit the web. The first is over at TeleFragged with an overall score of 90%:

Champions of Norrath is Snowblind’s evolution of the sub-genre they started with Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance. Much-demanded features like online play and four-player action give this one some lasting value, and the game’s complex item system means you will always be checking the shops for the next great weapon. This game has little to do with Everquest, but it has everything to do with simple hack and slash action and plenty of features to keep you coming back.

The second is at Gaming Horizon with an overall score of 9.5/10:

Snowblind has once again done an excellent, near-flawless job at crafting another RPG masterpiece to be enjoyed for months on the PlayStation 2, and they deserve every penny. Maybe their marketing strategies aren’t as big as Final Fantasy’s or as online involving as EQOA’s, but their final product is arguably one of the best of its genre. With character customization and the ability to load one’s character into any different game thank you DA once again Champions of Norrath will be a great experience for gamers of all ages, especially with the addition of blood and online options. Enjoy.

And the third is over at The Man Room with an overall score of 9/10:

Having five different characters to choose from gives you the opportunity to play the game using different attacking styles. The randomness of the dungeons also helps make the adventure different each time. The game has three levels of difficulty, but instead of just increasing the abilities of the monsters, each level is designed for characters at different levels. So after you have won the game on the first level, you can take your leveled up character through the game again on a higher difficulty. As an incentive to do this, the game gives you a whole new set of monsters to fight on the higher difficulties. You won’t be walking through the easy levels with your beefed up champion.
