Bloodborne to Get Card Game Adaptation

I’m not sure Bloodborne is the kind of game that naturally lends itself to a card game adaptation, but that seemingly hasn’t stopped the folks at CoolMiniOrNot Games from getting the license and putting Eric Lang (Game of Thrones: The Card Game, Warhammer 40k: Conquest, XCOM: The Board Game) on the job. As the designer states on Twitter, the game will be based on the original title’s optional Chalice Dungeons and put players in competition against each other:

Bloodborne is a card game based on the Chalice dungeon runs, where players compete to kill monsters and take their blood. But don’t die!

Bloodborne: risk management with a bit of groupthink, inventory management/upgrades and tactical play in an intense 30 minute card game.

Yes, I played it on Playstation. And yes, I sucked horribly at it.

My goal with Bloodborne was to channel the intensity and frustration of the video game into a contest between players. Lots of death.

I’m not sure I understand the rationale behind this move, but I guess it could potentially be fun. Time will tell.

Thanks, Polygon.
