Blizzard Article

I read over at RPGDot that Fantasy Online has posted up a controversial article entitled “Blizzard Has Lost The Plot” talking about their original games, such as Diablo I, and where they’ve taken games such as Diablo II and Warcraft 3 in recent years. Here’s a small quote:

It was soon after in May of 2000 when Blizzard announced that Warcraft III would be changing its focus. As such, almost abandoning its stance on Heroes, and increasing the emphasis placed on resource gathering and buildings and finally changing back to the classical look down view, adopted by so many other RTS games. Basically these changes were bringing Warcraft III back into par with current titles, and reducing its unique and somewhat radical stand. Since that time, numerous spells have been cut out, and two of the playable races have been dropped. The game storyline and features now read far more like a strategy game than the role-playing hybrid original viewers would have seen.

It’s a pretty good read, as the author doesn’t hold anything back on his opinion towards Blizzard. Check it out here.
