Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Release Date Announced, Gets Physical Collector’s Edition

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Beamdog’s completely original expansion to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, which will offer a bridge between the stories of the original Baldur’s Gate and its sequel, finally has a release date. According to the official website, the expansion will be released on March 31st, in just 4 weeks, and it will do so both digitally and physically.

Be prepared to put down a significant amount of hard-earned cash to pre-order a physical copy, though. The Collector’s Edition of Siege of Dragonspear is going to include DRM-free copies of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Siege of Dragonspear, the complete soundtrack to both the main game and the expansion, a cloth map of the Sword Coast, a set of dices, an amulet and even a couple of manuals. The catch? It’s going to cost you $129.99 and only a limited amount of copies is going to be manufactured, so you’re going to have to pre-order it too:

The Collector’s Box includes:

  • DRM-free copy of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear on DVD
  • Complete soundtrack of Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, and Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
  • Cloth map of the Sword Coast
  • Full-color copy of Bence Duncan’s Field Report with removable, collectible coin
  • Spiral-bound copy of the official Baldur’s Gate Adventurer’s Guide with updated rules and mechanics
  • Metal dragon’s head amulet on a strap necklace
  • Collection of 7 Baldur’s Gate-themed dice to use in your own D&D adventures

According to the official website, the base digital version of the expansion will be a much more affordable $19.99, while the Digital Deluxe edition will come with the soundtrack and cost $39.97.

It’s still strange but, yes, we’re getting an expansion to Baldur’s Gate in 2016. Let that sink in.
