Auto Assault Reviews

1Up, Techgage, and DarkZero have all written up their own reviews of NCsoft and NetDevil’s vehicular MMORPG, Auto Assault. 1Up gave the game an overall score of 8.0/10:

Auto Assault is a departure from nearly everything that’s taken for granted in the genre — which, tragically, doesn’t seem to be working out for it yet. Judging by the game’s low server populations, it might be too far from what veteran MMOers are accustomed to, and casual players are probably left wondering why they should pay a monthly fee for what, at first glance, looks like an action title. It’s a tremendous disappointment for those who’ve actually tried the game, whose greatest complaint has been that there aren’t enough other people playing. We’re hoping the game will grow enough through word of mouth to hang on and come into its own. There are enough MMOs out there that deserve to be roadkill, and Auto Assault isn’t one of them.

Techgage gave the game an overall score of 77%:

If you have not tasted MMO culture before, then this is a great game to get you started. Though the longevity of the game is currently unknown, NetDevil is diligently adding new content and stomping bugs as they see them. Since the game only costs around $30 on average, it’s hard to really go wrong here. If you still can’t fathom the idea of a vehicle MMO, I can assure you… you will likely be surprised.

And DarkZero gave the game an overall score of 8.0/10:

Overall, this is a brave attempt to shake up the MMORPG world, although underneath a lot of the surface differences, it still adheres quite closely to the general structure of the other games. It is, though, a very enjoyable game despite a pretty steep learning curve. It is very addictive in nature, and a welcome change from the more common lands of fairies, elves and dragons. It’s not an essential purchase yet, and is unlikely to convert you to online gaming if you are not already that way inclined. However, a couple of good expansion packs, and a few more online players, and this could be up there with the best of the genre like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. Whether it ever reaches those heady heights is now down to NetDevil!
