Asheron’s Call 2 Preview @ Games Domain

The guys at Games Domain have written a preview of the upcoming Asheron’s Call 2. Here’s a snippet:

For those more interested in slaughtering evil hordes, the sequel will provide a more strategic combat system involving special skills. A skill-tree system that borrows a little from the RTS genre allows players to spend experience points learning new combat techniques. Skills can be dropped on to an easy access toolbar, then during combat, the icon is activated with a keypress or mouse-click to perform the attack. In some cases, you’ll have to perform an initial attack and then click on the subsequent move, in a similar system to that we’ve seen in Mythic’s Dark Age of Camelot. Monsters also become vulnerable to special attacks, as indicated by brilliant yellow flashes — clicking on your skill at the right time gives crucial advantages.
