Another sAvery Icewind Dale II Interview

Sorry, had to. HomeLanFed.com launched an interview with Black Isle’s Doug Avery, which has both length and new information about the forthcoming sequel going for it. Here’s a teaser… actually one of the questions that I am glad they asked:

Q: Icewind Dale II is once again using the Infinity Engine. Why did you chose to use this engine again and is there any concern that some gamers might see it as dated compared to current and upcoming RPGs?

A: The choice to use the Infinity Engine was a simple one really. We didn’t have another engine that was as easy to use as Infinity and we already had it licensed to do another Icewind Dale game. As for the engine being dated, we’ve added a bunch of new features into it including a number of third edition Dungeons & Dragons modifications, character classes, races and spells. We are also giving the interface a complete overhaul. Most of the areas are new and your party will even revisit some familiar territory, albeit 30+ years in the future. I think that players will really enjoy all the changes we’ve made to this aging but elegant engine.
