How to Unlock Flying Brooms and Flight – Hogwarts Legacy

While we won’t be able to play Quidditch in the game, we can at least be consoled that we still get a magic broom, and a chance to explore the world the right way: by flying.

Here is how to get the broom and unlock flight in the game:

  1. Complete the Flying Class (Main Story Quest)
  2. Start Flight Test and buy a broom in Hogsmeade

Please note that this guide is a work in progress, and will be updated regularly after the game’s release.

Step 1: Complete Flying Class Quest

Until you can fulfill your broom-riding fantasy, you will have to undergo quite a journey, completing your Main Story quests up until Jackdaw’s Rest, when you can unlock the Flying Class quest, which will let you test out Flying before you can do it in the open world.

The quest is pretty self-explanatory, introducing you to controls and challenging you to fly through rings and then around the grounds as a tutorial sequence.

Broom Flight Controls:

  • playstation button left stick all directions To move in any direction
  • playstation button analog r.svg (1) To ascend or descend
  • button xbox lefttrigger For a Burst of Speed
  • button xbox righttrigger (Hold) For Flight Speed

Step 2: Buy a Broom in Hogsmeade (Flight Test)

Now, go back to your Quest Menu and pick “Flight Test,” which will navigate you to Spintwitches in Hogsmeade to buy a broom you actually get to keep. Use the Hogsmeade Map view to travel to the South Hogsmeade waypoint.

Talk to Albie Weekes, and you will get 5 different Broom options:

  • Ember Dash Broom
  • Hogwarts House Broom
  • Moon Trimmer Broom
  • Wind Wisp Broom
  • Yew Weaver Broom

Their price and functionality is the same, so the choice will be purely cosmetic.

After this step you can continue with the Flight Test at the Quidditch pitch: this time flying through the rings will become a timed challenge!

You can view your broom at any time by going into the Gear tab, and looking at the Broom slot underneath the Flying Mounts. You may note that it has slots for Upgrades.

Upgrading your Broom

Once you gain your trusty Broom, you have the option of upgrading it by completing Time Trials. Upgrading your broom will increase your overall flight speed and flight height. You will also be able to increase the overall duration of your flight meter and remove the resource cost of using your broom while flying close to the ground.
