Final Fantasy X-3 Could Happen, but Not Until FFVII Remake Is Complete

For years, fans have been wondering if Square Enix is going to make a Final Fantasy X-3. There have been hints in the past, and we’ve gotten continuations of X-2’s story through the novel Final Fantasy X-2.5 Eien no Daisho and the audio drama Final Fantasy X Will, but there has never been an official announcement for a new game. However, it does look like X-3 could still be a possibility.

Recently there was an interview on Famitsu that was translated at RPGSite, where character designer Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that a story synopsis does exist. “If we are to make X-3, we somehow have a synopsis written by Nojima-san,” explains Nomura, and added that “It’s sleeping right now, but the plot itself does exist.”

So there is a chance that a Final Fantasy X-3 will be made, but we will have to wait for a while before that becomes a reality. Motomu Toriyama, the event director of FFX and supervisor of the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster, says that “The probability is not zero,” for making a X-3, “But we are not in a phase where we can talk about it, unless we have finished producing FF7 Remake.” So while the possibility is there, we will have to wait for the Final Fantasy VII Remake to be finished before any real talks for Final Fantasy X-3 could happen.

I'm a huge gamer who especially loves the Final Fantasy series. I will play just about any game, especially if it has anything resembling a Dragoon.
