Fallout 4 The Molecular Level Guide

You’ve successfully faced your first Courser, and now have the key to entering the Institute! The Molecular Level starts right where Hunter/Hunted ended. Now you’ll have to get the chip you have secured from the Courser to the Memory Den in Goodneighbor so it can be analyzed.

Analyze the Courser Chip

You’ll first have to analyze the courser chip, so fast travel to Goodneighbor and enter the Memory Den. You’ll have to talk to Dr. Amari. Unfortunately your conversation with her will reveal that she cannot help you further. She will tell you to seek out a new faction, The Railroad.

The Railroad

If you haven’t already completed the first Railroad quest, Road to Freedom, you will  have to before continuing this quest. This is because it leads you to making contact with the secretive faction.

Once you have completed Road to Freedom and met the Railroad’s leader Desdemona, it’s time to get down to business. Talk to Tinker Tom, who is located within the Railroad’s HQ.

Returning to Virgil

After talking to Tinker Tom, fast travel back to Virgil in the Glowing Sea. Virgil will give you the plans that allow you to build a signal interceptor. This device will allow you to teleport to the Institute once the device is completed.

Choose Your Faction

You have four options in relation to building the signal interceptor:

To get help from the faction of your choosing, simply speak to the leader of the faction of your choice. This means you either talk to Paladin Danse (BoS), Preston Garvey (Minutemen), or Desdemona (Railroad). If you wish to build it yourself, all you have to do is have the correct components/supplies and build it yourself at a workbench.

Talk to the faction leader of your choice, and if you haven’t already proven yourself to them, then they will ask you to. You will simply complete two faction related quests. Once these are done, the faction leader will tell you to talk to the faction’s scientist.

Starlight Drivein is a large, flat area. It’s perfect to build the Signal Interceptor.

Building the Signal Interceptor

You’ll need to build these devices in a large flat area. Take a look at your settlements to determine where you think you have enough room. If you lack the supplies to build the reflector platform, you’ll have to go on large scavenging trips or purchase the necessary supplies from vendors. Your PipBoy has an ability to track needed pieces of junk in regard to crafting, so take advantage of that if you don’t have some necessary crafting supplies.

Okay, once you have all the needed crafting components, it’s time to create the signal interceptor. Craft the Stabilized Reflector Platform, found in the special tab.

Next, build the Beam Emitter. Ensure that the Beam Emitter snaps onto the Reflector Platform. Specifically, it should be on top of the platform.  If it does not snap on, then you haven’t done it right.

Then, build the Relay Dish. It should be close to both of the previously built items, but should not snap on. Finally, you will craft the Console. Place it near the Relay Dish, but like the Relay Dish it will not snap.

All of these components are powered by generators. This means you’ll have to craft quite a few generators to power the Signal Interceptor. The Beam Emitter needs at least two generators by itself, because it requires so much power. Ensure all the necessary wires, running from generators to the four highlighted sections of the teleporter ( seen in workshop mode).

Finally, you can activate the teleporter and this will complete the quest. Step inside it and wait, and you’ll be beamed into the heart of the mysterious Institute….
