Fable: Anniversary Preview

OXM UK has wrangled up a two-page preview for Lionhead’s Fable: Anniversary, with the primary focus of the preview to relay the “five ways the Xbox 360 version outclasses the original”. Better graphics and sound, the inclusion of achievements, SmartGlass integration, the integration of The Lost Chapters (and possibly other DLC), and a new save system are the points we need to be paying attention to:

Fable Anniversary’s SmartGlass integration will also display the locations of chests in the game, and clicking on these will tell you what you’ll find in them – letting you know whether it’s worth the extra effort of going after them or not. You can also expect little tips on demon doors, bosses and the environment, which may sound like overkill, but Lionhead assures us that it’s all completely optional and that there are no plot spoilers.

Fable Anniversary is a remaster of the original Fable and The Lost Chapters expansion, so it’ll include all of TLC’s additional quests, weapons, armour, spells, towns and items. These aside, there won’t be any brand new material for Fable Anniversary at launch, but during a Gamespot panel at E3, Timmins teased the possibility of DLC, dropping an intriguing reference to the Fable modding scene of 2004. Could some of the original game’s more popular mods make a comeback? Or could this be an opportunity for brand new Fable content and features, such as online co-op?
