Fable Anniversary Character Spotlight: Twinblade

The bandit leader Twinblade is the latest character to be given the spotlight treatment in Lionhead Studios’ latest coverage for Fable Anniversary. Here’s a full set of paragraphs to bring you up to speed:

Everyone knows those born with the potential to protect others make some of the best Heroes in all of Albion.

Yet the potential to do great good can be tainted by the most human of desires. Riches, love, power; these are things many heroes seek, and yet they are also the things many heroes succumb to, losing sight of their values and falling to darkness as they strive to meet their goals.

For some though, falling to darkness is less an unfortunate result of their will to succeed and more a conscious decision. These men and women are the most terrible of all.

Once, the Heroes Guild trained a promising young man with incredible potential. A swordsman, his strength and ferocity in battle became the talk of the tavern, with Heroes and villagers alike sharing tales of their encounters with him. Wielding two mighty swords and showing an aptitude for destruction, after just a few days of training not many were willing to spar with him and his reputation as one of the fiercest melee fighters the Guild had known was soon cemented.

Yet for all his battle prowess, the young Hero worried his teachers. As his physical abilities grew and became renowned, so too did his arrogance and love for gold. (Why earn gold when you could simply take it?) he’d ask.

Over time the man grew distant, resenting the heroes he trained with and eventually the Guild itself. Yet despite his darkening outlook, he remained and continued to learn, his increasing power matched only by his loathing of the Heroes Guild.

Upon his graduation, instead of indebting himself to the people of Albion through a life of servitude and protection, he fled into the forests. There, intent on taking the gold he longed for, he became a thief, stealing from the innocent and slaughtering those who stood in his way. Before long his reputation for savagery preceded him and, dubbed Twinblade by the thieves and brigands he now stood with, he began his ascent of the Bandit ranks.

Maintaining a strict code of respect and honour among his followers this man now stands as Bandit King. Looking upon this hulking brute of a man, covered in battle scars, missing an eye and renowned for brutality, it’s hard to believe that once he had the potential to become a mighty Hero.
