Overview of the Provinces of The Elder Scrolls Online

The Black Marsh

Faction: The Ebonheart Pact

Known as the home of the Argonians, the Black Marsh, is a swamp infested province to the south of Morrowind. The Black Marsh hosts a particularly warm and moist environment giving life to a variety of lush vegetation making it an uncomfortable habitat for many humanoids.  Disease also thrives in the swamps of the Black Marsh threatening a large portion of its inhabitants, because of this Argonians have developed an immunity to many of these diseases granting them the ability to prosper with limited interaction of other humanoids.

Cyrodiil

Elder Scrolls Online Provinces

Known for its Imperial population, Cyrodiil is the center of Tamriel and has become the home of Tamriel’s political structure. The densely populated Imperial City sits at the center of Cyrodiil surrounded by exceptionally fertile farm land and protected by Lake Rumore. The farm land surrounding the city has provided a strong economy for the Imperials and their Empire for centuries, giving them a great advantage in many of the wars.

Elsweyr

Faction: The Aldmeri Dominion

A province of the Cyrodilic Empire known for their Moon Sugar and large Khajiit population. Elsweyr is home to two major environments, these two are the northern badlands and the tropical forests of the south. The Badlands contains little humanoid life as like many deserts and are almost impossible to farm due to the lack of fertility. Near the southern shores of Elsweyr is where most of their farming for Moon Sugar is done, the south is also home to the largest seaport in Tamriel, Senchal.

Hammerfell

Faction: The Daggerfall Covenant

This dry, desolate place on the west coast of Tamriel is home to the Redgaurds, an adventure driven race.  Most of the population resides in the major port cities of the province with very few farms laid throughout the interior of this wasteland. At one time Hammerfell was home to a large Dwemer population whom later disappeared without any clues to their extinction.

High Rock

Faction: The Daggerfall Covenant

A forest filled coast line and a rocky interior gives High Rock its unique geographic features. Currently home of the Bretons and the Orc city state Orsinium, High Rock was once dominated by the Aldmer and later the Nordic people. Now, the segregated Breton clans, fight for independence from the integration of the Imperial Empire.

Morrowind

Faction: The Ebonheart Pact

A rich land filled with mystery and dwemer ruins, home of the Dunmer people and located to the North-Eastern most part of Tamriel. Morrowind has a vast history of slavery as the Dunmer abducted many Argonians from the Black Marsh although it was made illegal by the Imperial Empire. Morrowind is also known for its variety of environments from rich farm land, desolate plains and rocky abandoned interior.

Skyrim

Faction: The Ebonheart Pact

Located to the North of Cyrodiil, Skyrim is the original home of the Nordic people. The northern coast of Skyrim is a frozen wasteland containing a few major cities such as Solitude. The southern regions of Skyrim are filled with Fall and Temperate forests, home to a wide variety of creatures. Skyrim is as wild as it is beautiful with its recently active dragon population.

Summerset Isle

Faction: The Aldmeri Dominion

Once infested with Daedra is now the home of the Altmer, also known as the High Elves of Tamriel. Not much is known about the geography of Summerset Isle, except it’s home to large mountain named Cloudrest. The architecture is said to be somewhat like that seen in city of Tel Mora in Morrowind.

Valenwood

Faction: The Aldmeri Dominion

Heavily populated with dense forests and woodlands, Valenwood is home to the Bosmer. The forests of Valenwood grow rich due to the process the Bosmer’s made to not harm the wilderness. Massive trees within Valenwood contain entire cities within themselves, a bi-product of the Bosmer’s agreement to Y’ffre. This lush green land is filled with natural, undisturbed beauty, a perfect home for any wood elf.
