Trouble in the Crypts – Dungeon Siege III Main Quest

This guide provides a walkthrough for a main quest in part 2 of Dungeon Siege III. Along with the walkthrough is a map and legend, which provides additional information.

Background

A gang of thieves has been abducting the city’s automatons. Meister Mudgutter asked you to track down the thieves and put a stop to their illegal activities.

Walkthrough

You’ll receive this quest from Mudgutter in the Meisterhall during the quest Majority Rules.

Find the Gang of Thieves

Mudgutter will suggest that you look for the automaton thieves in the Crypts of the Sacred Blood. You’ll find evidence of the thieves a short ways into the crypts (#1).

Track Down the Master Thief

You’ll encounter Ehregott, the master thief, at the end of the crypts (#14).

Subdue Ehregott

Automatons and thieves will show up every so often to help Ehregott out, but as long as you keep dodging and using your area attacks, you should be able to wear them down and eventually defeat them. At the end of the battle, Ehregott will drop three “blue” items, and he’ll admit that he was hired by the Dapper Old Gent.

Return to Mudgutter

When you return to Mudgutter in the Meisterhall, you’ll receive 2810 xp and roughly 2900 coins, and Mudgutter will give you his vote for the quest Majority Rules.


1 – Automaton Parts


2 – Locked Door

You’ll only be able to unlock this door on your way out of the crypts.


3 – Chest

Inside this chest you’ll find Brimfallow’s Utility Belt.


4 – Blade Trap

The easiest way to avoid the trap (#4) is to dodge forward until you’re past it. Nearby (#4a), you’ll find a lever that will turn the trap off.


5 – Locked Gate

To open the gate, you’ll need to pull the lever to the west (#4a).


6 – Blade Trap

You’ll find the lever for this trap on the southern side of the trap.


7- Locked Doors

You’ll open these doors when you turn off the nearby blade trap (#6).


8 – Blade Traps

You’ll need to pull one of the nearby levers (#10) to shut off these traps.


9 – Modified Automaton

You’ll need to pull one of the nearby levers (#10) to release this automaton boss.


10 – Levers

These levers will shut off the nearby blade traps (#8), open up the cage for the modified automaton boss (#9), and extend the bridge to the west.


11 – Lucas

If you’re playing Reinhart, then this is where you’ll meet your final companion, Lucas. For all other characters, you’ll meet your final companion during the quest Mediations. When you recruit your final companion, you’ll receive the We Are Legion deed (+4 stamina).


12 – Chest

Inside this chest you’ll find the Ketzler Family Trousers.


13 – Book

This book will give you the lore entry for The Ketzlers of Stonebridge.


14 – Ehregott
