Background

You have discovered the entrance to a dungeon underneath the Bailey Garden. The doorway is carved into the base of the stone centerpiece in the middle of the garden.

Walkthrough

Open the Door to the Dungeon

You’ll find the dungeon in the northern part of the Spire Bailey (Exit A) during the quest On Holy Ground. You’ll trigger this quest the first time you try to open its door. To get the door open, you’ll need to step on the pressure plate located in the western part of the bailey (#1).

Explore the Dungeon

Inside the dungeon, you’ll run into a prisoner named Fitch (#2). He’ll make you a deal: if you defeat the jailor and free him from his cell, then he’ll become a shopkeeper and sell you stuff at a discount.

Find the Jailor’s Key

You’ll encounter the jailor in the northern part of the dungeon (#3). He’s fast (and has a “slow” aura to boot), but you should be able to dodge around and avoid most of his attacks while your companion damages him. When the jailor dies, you’ll automatically collect his keys, which will allow you to access all of the cells in the dungeon.

Release the Noble Prisoners

You’ll find the noble prisoners in the cells to the east (#4). For freeing them, you’ll receive the Liberator deed (+5 agility).

Decide Fitch’s Fate

When you return to Fitch (#2), you’ll have to decide what to do with him. You’ll have two choices:

  • If you free Fitch, then he’ll scamper off to the bottom of the Spire (which you’ll visit after defeating Jeyne during the quest On Holy Ground), where he’ll become a shopkeeper with an extensive collection of “orange” items for sale.

  • If you leave Fitch in his cell, then he’ll still become a shopkeeper at the bottom of the Spire, but because it will take him longer to get there, you’ll get a chance to loot a few “orange” items from his chest of goods, and Fitch will only have random “blue” items for sale.

For completing the quest, you’ll receive 853 xp. You can also pick up the Hand of Azunai from the sealed cell in the dungeon (#6).

6 – Sealed Cell

Inside this cell you’ll find a chest containing the Hand of Azunai, plus a book that will give you the lore entry for Who Is Azunai?
