Burk gave this old staff to his brother Kanred twenty years ago when he first becamea wizard. Despite the many years of use, it remained in good condition until recently. When Kanred opened his mind to the Dark Wizard, both he and his staff were overwhelmed with far more magic than either was able to handle. Kanred became a mindless minion, brutal and insane, and the staff became brittle and worn. When Burk grabbed it to prevent Kanred from attacking the Dryad Outpost, the staff snapped. Unaware of what had happened, Kanred continued to wield this fragment until his death at your hands.
