Complete Your Training (Mage) – Drakensang: The River of Time

This Guide is for a quest in Nadoret for Drakensang: The River of Time. It’s complete with a map, map legend, and overview of the varying points of interest.

Background

Mage type characters (Battlemage, Healing Mage, Metamage, Elementalist, Alchemist) start with this as their Complete Your Training quest. You will find in your inventory an item (a letter of recommendation) to bring to Master Brookbeard, the local mage.

The game’s quest marker guides you through the harbor master and a sentry, but you can head straight to the Mage’s Tower (exit D on the Nadoret main map). Talking to them nets you no extra Adventure Points.

1 – The Light

Hesindiana Zoltan will talk to you the moment you walk in, soon to be interrupted by Master Brookbeard. Present your letter, and follow him for your first task, the quest Light. This already nets you 70AP.

Walk in and the door will be closed. Cast Light in the Darkness. The key is in one of the Dusty Chests. Getting the key and exiting nets you 70AP, with an extra 3AP for the usage of Light in the Darkness.

This closes light and Hesindiana will show you to your personal travel chest. This contains 1x Oneberry Juice, Fables from the Kosh, Magician’s Robe and Dark Leather Pants.

Head on up two floors to talk to Master Brookbeard again. He will teach you Lightning Find You to begin the quest Shade.

2 – The Shovel

The shovel is behind Hesindiana. Picking it up nets you 70AP. Head out and to Boron’s Field.

3 – Boron Deont

There’s on deont of Boron standing here. You can convince him to leave you be with a Fast Talk check, if that fails cast Lightning Find You on him. Normally this would start combat, but in this case it simply scares him away

The grave you’re looking for is on in front of and slightly to the right of where the deont was standing, a noticeable pile of dirt and rocks. Use it to dig up some bones and get 70AP, and head back to Master Brookbeard.

4 – Upset Villagers

A bunch of villagers are threatening to burn down the tower. Intimidate or fight them with Hesindiana’s help, they run off once one of them is seriously hurt. This nets you 70AP when you report back to Brookbeard. This closes Shade.

5 – The Tremor

Right after Master Brookbeard leaves a tremor shakes the tower. Follow Hesindiana to the laboratory, in the tower’s basement. Once there, Brookbeard will teach you Culminatio Ball of Lightning and start the quest Blood.

6 – Wolves

Hesindiana will accompany you for this quest which is good, because Master Brookbeard was not joking about the artifact attracting wolves. Groups of wolves will attack you (first 3, then 4), and individual wandering wolves will attack you. The individual wolves, for some reason, do not provide AP when killed, while the two groups provide the normal 2AP.

7 – Slay the Wolf

You and Hesindiana find two dead men and a dead bullock. She finds and hands you a Letter (a quest item) and you should further loot the dead bodies and bullock for 1D 5F, 2z Silver Ring, 2x Silver Chain, 2x Horned Helmet, 2x Whetstone, 12x Tin Figure, 2x Perfume, Salty Kosh Bunting Tongues, 7x Small Bale of Cloth, Candle Holder

Soon after, the blood wolf and four normal wolves storm around the corner. Defeat them with Hesindiana’s help to gain 70AP and Blood quest item.

Head back to Master Brookbeard near his laboratory to get a further 70AP, the Soulsplitter staff and close the quest Complete Your Training.
