A simple wooden staff, eight spans in length, can be an extremely effective weapon in the hands of a master of the art. Most fighting staves are not, however, simple wooden weapons; instead, they are specially hardened, reinforced with metal bands, or even fitted with blades at both ends. Staves are two-handed weapons and cannot be used in combination with shields.
