The Bone Pit (Act I) – Dragon Age 2 Location

This guide gives players the layout of a location in Act 1 of Dragon Age 2. It’s complete with a map, legend, and overview of the area.

Walkthrough

1 – “Beared Beast” Arintal’s Remains

Picking up the remains will trigger the quest “Remains of the Outlaw ‘Bearded Beast.'” To complete the quest, you’ll need to deliver the remains to Arintal the Lesser at the Docks. When you do, you’ll receive 50 silvers and 250 xp.


2 – Pillar

When you examine the pillar, you’ll receive the “places” codex entry for The Bone Pit.


3 – Book

On the barrel here you’ll find a book that will give you the “places” codex entry for Nevarra.


4 – Document

Under the boulder here, you’ll find a piece of paper that will give you or update the “lore” codex entry for The Enigma of Kirkwall. You’ll need to find these codex entries for the Archaeologist achievement.


5 – Elfroot

You’ll need elfroot for crafting potions. You’ll receive 200 xp for discovering this source of it.


6 – Refined Lyrium

You’ll need lyrium for crafting runes. You’ll receive 200 xp for discovering this source of it.


7 – Rubble

Inside both of these piles of rubble, you’ll find a Helm of Victory.


8 – Sack

Inside this sack you’ll find Eustice’s Pommel, which will trigger the quest “Eustice’s Pommel” when you pick it up. To complete the quest, you’ll need to deliver the pommel to Guardsman Eustice in the city guard barracks in the Viscount’s Keep. When you do, you’ll receive 1 sovereign and 750 xp.


9 – Deep Mushroom

You’ll need deep mushrooms for crafting poisons and bombs. You’ll receive 200 xp for discovering this source of it.


10 – Rubble

Inside this pile of rubble, you’ll find Gallows Slave Finger-Cuffs.


11 – Crate

Inside this crate, you’ll find another set of Gallows Slave Finger-Cuffs.


12 – Mature Dragon

You’ll need to kill this dragon for the quest The Bone Pit. See that quest entry for more information. When the dragon dies, it will drop a Dragon’s Fang (and more), which you’ll need for the quest Herbalist’s Tasks.
