Faith – Dragon Age 2 Companion Quest

In this guide, you will find a map, legend, and walkthrough for the respective quest in Act 3 of Dragon Age 2.

Background

You’ll automatically receive this quest at the start of Act III, provided that you have The Exiled Prince DLC.

Overview

When you talk to Sebastian in the Chantry, you’ll join into a conversation between him and Grand Cleric Elthina, and you’ll learn that the Divine is so concerned about what has been transpiring in Kirkwall that she’s sent an agent of hers named Sister Nightingale to “assess the danger.” Elthina will then ask you to meet with Sister Nightingale in the throne room of the Viscount’s Keep (at night).

During the conversation with Sebastian and Elthina, you’ll get a couple of chances to gain friendship or rivalry points with your companions:

  • In your third response, if you say “Of course,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Sebastian and Varric. If you say “But they are needed,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Fenris.

  • In your fourth response, if you say “We’ll go right now,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Sebastian. If you say “I won’t stop the Divine,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Fenris and rivalry points with Anders.

Inside the throne room of the Viscount’s Keep, you’ll get attacked by a group of demons and mages, but then Sister Nightingale (aka Leliana, even if she died in Origins) will come in and help you finish off the ambush. Afterwards, Sister Nightingale will warn you that Grand Cleric Elthina is not safe in Kirkwall and that she should leave for Orlais immediately. If you tell Sister Nightingale “It really isn’t that bad,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Anders and Sebastian, and rivalry points with Fenris. If you tell her “It’s time for holy war,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Fenris, and rivalry points with Anders and Sebastian.

Before heading back to the Chantry, be sure to loot the corpses of the mages. You’ll find several nice items on them, including the Jewel of the Ether, Mage’s Friend, Ser Maura’s Gauntlets, The Low Blade, and The Resolutionist’s Cap. Then when you report in to Grand Cleric Elthina, she’ll listen to what happened, but she’ll refuse to leave Kirkwall. If your respond with the good or wry response at the end, then you’ll gain friendship points with Sebastian. If you’re aggressive, then you’ll gain rivalry points with Sebastian. Regardless, you’ll also earn 15 sovereigns and 1500 xp for completing the quest.
