Abilities – Divinity: Original Sin

This guide lists and explains all the character abilities in Divinity Original Sin.

Weapons

  • Bow increases damage dealt by bows by 10% per rank.

  • Crossbow increases damage dealt by crossbows by 10% per rank.

  • Single-Handed increases damage dealt by single-handed weapons by 10% per rank. Single-handed weapons include daggers, swords and maces.

  • Tenebrium increases damage dealt by tenebrium weapons by 10% per rank.

  • Two-Handed increases damage dealt by two-handed weapons by 10% per rank. Two-handed weapons include swords, spears, and staves.

Defense

  • Armor Specialist improves your armor rating by 5% per rank and decreases the heavy armor movement penalty by 20% per rank.

  • Body Building improves your saving throws against physical statuses, including Knocked Down, Burning, Bleeding, Crippled, Blinded, Weak, Diseased, Infected and Drunk.

  • Shield Specialist increases your chance of blocking by 5% per rank when using shields.

  • Willpower improves your saving throws against magical statuses, including Feared, Mute, Charmed, Frozen, Stunned, Cursed, Slowed and Petrified.

Skills

  • Aerotheurge determines how many Aerotheurge spells you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Aerotheurge spells.

  • Expert Marksman determines how many Expert Marksman skills you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Expert Marksman skills.

  • Geomancer determines how many Geomancer spells you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Geomancer spells.

  • Hydrosophist determines how many Hydrosophist spells you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Hydrosophist spells.

  • Man-at-Arms determines how many Man-at-Arms skills you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Man-at-Arms skills.

  • Pyrokinetic determines how many Pyrokinetic spells you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Pyrokinetic spells.

  • Scoundrel determines how many Scoundrel skills you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Scoundrel skills.

  • Witchcraft determines how many Witchcraft spells you can learn and how many AP it costs to use higher level Witchcraft spells.

Personality

  • Bartering determines your haggling skill with traders.

  • Charisma determines the first impression you make on other people and your talent for Charming, Intimidating and Reasoning.

  • Leadership gives boosts to party members and allies who can see you.

  • Lucky Charm determines your luck in finding extra loot and improves your Offense Rating.

Craftsmanship

  • Blacksmithing allows you to repair your own items. The higher the rank, the faster you’ll work. Blacksmithing also allows you to create and improve metal-enhanced weapons and armor.

  • Crafting determines what you can craft and the quality of your crafted items. The higher the rank, the faster you’ll work.

  • Loremaster allows you to identify enemies and items. The higher the rank, the more you can identify and the faster you work.

  • Telekinesis determines the range and weight of items you can move telepathically.

Nasty Deeds

  • Lockpicking determines the complexity of locks you can pick and how fast you can do it.

  • Pickpocketing determines what you can steal and who you can steal it from.

  • Sneaking determines how well you can sneak without getting caught.
