Main Quests Walkthrough

This page lists the main quests that frame the Broken Valley. After doing the first two quests, you’ll be able to fully explore the valley.

Chasing the Dragon

This quest is received immediately upon arrival in the Broken Valley. Rhode says that the dragon attacked the village and that you should talk to the people who’ve seen the dragon or know anything about the attack.

The potential people with knowledge about the subject are Jake, Ollie, Romon and Winthrop. Jake and Ollie will reside in the tavern (#2) after you free it from the Seekers’ unit. Romon is the priest, found wandering in front of the chapel (#3). Winthrop (#4) is the miller’s guard.

After talking to three of either of them, you’ll have to inform Rhode of your findings. During the conversation, you’ll get a few flashes of the recently induced dragon memories. After talking to Rhode, the quest will end and you’ll receive 1800 experience, 700 gold and two choices of either 800 experience, 350 gold, a minor charm, a rare quality item or a potion.

To Lay a Ghost to Rest

The next quest takes you to the inside the chapel’s tomb. The entrance is located inside the chapel (#3), to the right. Down in the tomb, you’ll find Arben’s ghost, who’ll talk with you about your Dragon Slayer training. Then you’ll have to best him in combat. He’s a rather tough adversary, so it’s advised that you’ve already leveled up properly from the sidequests that are initially available.

During the fight, he’ll summon a few skeleton mages who can deal pretty nasty damage. If you got burst enough, go for the ghost itself and they’ll disappear once you enter the conversation with him again. He’ll bid you farewell and then leave behind a two-handed sword – Arben’s sword. Explore the chamber as you like, there are a few chests with some extra goodies.

Return to Rhode to complete the quest. She’ll be right outside the catacomb. Apaprently, Marius has spotted the Dragon Knight that you’re hunting. You’ll also have to give up the sword to Rhode. In addition, they don’t want you to fight the Dragon Knight as Rhode thinks you’re too fragile for now. The rewards are the usual ones: 1800 experience, 700 gold and two choices of either 800 experience, 350 gold, a minor charm and a rare quality item.

As soon as this quest is finished, Rhode will go to a meeting point to the east in the valley (#5). However, this also means that the rest of the valley is “unlocked” and free to explore, which opens up new side quests.

Looking for Lovis

The third quest is started once you reach the meeting point at #5. However, instead of the Dragon Slayers, you’ll meet Talana, the Dragon Knight you’ve been looking for in the Broken Valley. After conversing with her about Rhode, and what transpired, she’ll induce another memory into you, and you’ll soon find yourself playing as a dragon. Note that you can mindread her to learn about the weapon, which can then be found to the northwest of the central tower.

You’ll have a pretty powerful homing fireball as an attack. There really is only one way, just follow it and eliminate any hostilities. Soon enough, you’ll enter an epic cinematic where you’ll battle one of the Dragons, Damian. He’ll bully you while you’re still weak from the fall and then Zandalor will show up, one of the mages. You’ve turned into a Dragon Knight, and you’re no longer a Dragon Slayer.

Zandalor will appear as your ally and he wants to help you defeat Damian, the Damned One. Either way, you’ll need to find Lovis next and to reach the insides of his tower, start from the western side, by climbing the ladders.

After walking the large pathway (#6), you’ll reach the tower and you should notice some platforms on your right. Climb on top of them with your heightened dragon jump and press the lever. There’s a similar obstacle in the next part as well, though the door you’ll be opening leads outside. Once you reach the wooden path, take it and go up by the set of ladders. Soon you’ll reach a two-way fork. The left way is to the one to complete the side quest Lovis’ Loot.

The right one essentially leads you to the same place as if you hadn’t taken the wooden path. Enter Lovis’ Chambers and you’ll find a reveal spell scroll in the rubble to the left, on the opposite side in the skeleton’s corpse. Use it to reveal a lever. The elevator will then take you down into another chamber. Explore it for some extra goodies in the treasure chests and then proceed to the book at the throne. It will ask a few questions to prove your worth and answering them right will net an additional prize at the end – a necklace.

The answers to the questions are Anastas, Ouroboros, The Battle of Ten Thousand, Ba’al and The Valley of Shrines, respectively. As soon as you answer all the questions, the quest completes and you receive 1800 experience, 700 gold and two choices of either 800 experience, 350 gold and a random charm or item.

Paper Trail

Immediately upon enter the Maxos’ temple (#7), Zandalor will greet you and congratulate you on your efforts, as Damian never expected you to come that far. The quest ends immediately upon the end of the conversation and you’re left to deal with the temple’s puzzles, riddles and secrets. Check the page for Maxos’ Temple where further info is given.

Dragon No More

This quest is integrated in the Maxos’ Temple, so it might be the best to check the page dedicated to the temple itself. The pedestal where the quest is started is at #12 on that map.
