The Return Walkthrough

Background

You’ll trigger this task on the Island after meeting the Insulindian Phasmid (#1) and completing the task Inspect the Phasmid.

Walkthrough

For this task, you’ll have to ditch the deserter (#2) and make your way to the skiff you used to travel to the Island (#3). When you sail back to Martinaise West, you’ll be met by Jean Vicquemare (the “man with sunglasses” from the Whirling-in-Rags), Judit Minot (the “horse-faced woman” from the Whirling-in-Rags), and Trant Heidelstam (whom you might have met in front of the Feld Building). You’ll learn that they’re all employed by your precinct.

The trio will interview you to test your competency. They’ll be pretty forgiving, so even if you got drunk, took bribes, started a drug lab, and ignored the case, they’ll probably welcome you back and allow you to keep your current rank. You might even get Kim or Cuno a job with your precinct. But if you got wasted, failed to protect Kim, and refused Cuno’s help, then the trio might actually leave you behind and let you fend for yourself.

Regardless, this task will end the game. Congratulations for completing Disco Elysium!
