Island Overview – Disco Elysium

This guide will help you navigate the Island in Disco Elysium.

Area Overview

Note: It’s possible that when you arrive on the Island, you won’t be able to save your game. If this happens to you, then just enter the Flak Tower (Exit B) and sleep on the mattress there. This will start a dream sequence and nudge the game into allowing you to save again.

1 – Sniper’s Nest

You’ll find three things of interest at this nest: a medicine cabinet containing Drouamine plus some money; a LUM Fuel Canister, which you’ll need for the task Find Fuel for the Generator; and a mattress. When you examine the two firing slots next to the mattress, you’ll discover that you can see the Whirling-in-Rags — and Klaasje’s bedroom window. This will update (and hopefully complete) the task Determine Where the Shot Came From.

2 – Deserter (aka Iosef Lilianovich Dros)

You’ll meet an old deserter here. He’ll tell you about himself and how he’s still fighting the communist revolution that ended over 40 years ago. If you pass a “legendary” Composure check, then you’ll decide that he’s in pretty good shape for a man who’s been living alone for all that time, but when you ask him if he’s been taking drugs to stay afloat, he’ll deny it.

Eventually, your conversation will move on to the murder investigation, and you’ll learn that the deserter is the one who killed the hanged man. This is covered in the tasks Extract a Confession from the DeserterExtract a Motive, and Find the Murder Weapon. Asking him about his other activities can also trigger the task What Happened to the Previous Forewoman?

When you attempt to arrest the deserter, you’ll spot the Insulindian Phasmid nearby (#3). This will trigger the task Inspect the Phasmid. After your inspection, when you return to the deserter, you’ll see that he’s in no condition to be taken to jail. This will trigger the task The Return.

3 – Insulindian Phasmid

The phasmid is involved in the task Inspect the Phasmid. After interacting with it, you’ll find a cache of supplies where it was standing: (Evidence) Klaasje’s Passport, a Fairweather T-500 Helmet, and a T-9/32 Rifle Scope.

Note: There are two containers in the cache. If you don’t see the one with the helmet and the scope, then save and load your game. That should cause the container to show up.

Exits

  1. Skiff. This skiff will take you back to Martinaise West, but be aware: when you return to the mainland, the game will end.
  2. Entrances to the Flak Tower.
