You’ll trigger this task if you fail the Perception check unlocked at the end of the task Perform Field Autopsy (#1).

Walkthrough

You’ll need to find a refrigerator so you can keep the body cool until you’re ready to send it to the morgue. If you check with Garte in the Whirling-in-Rags (#4) or the clerk at Frittte (#5), then you’ll discover that their refrigerators won’t work for you. If you ask Cuno (#2), then he’ll claim to have an idea, but he won’t want to divulge it for free.

To work with Cuno, you’ll need to pass a Rhetoric check. If you’re successful, then he’ll tell you about the ice bear fridge in the basement of the Doomed Commercial Area. If you fail, then you’ll beg pathetically for his information, but he won’t divulge it to you, and you’ll lose a point of Morale. But either way, you’ll be able to use the ice bear fridge. Talking to Cuno, Garte, and the Frittte clerk is completely optional.

To get to the ice bear fridge, you’ll need to gain access to the closed-off portion of the Doomed Commercial Area (#3), which means you’ll need to convince Plaisance, the bookstore owner, to let you explore beyond her shop. This is covered in the task Investigate the Doomed Commercial Area.

You’ll find the ice bear fridge in the basement of the Doomed Commercial Area. If necessary, you’ll need to plug it in at the breaker box in the southern part of the basement (the red cable goes to the fridge). When you open the fridge while it’s running, you and Kim will decide that it’s perfect for a corpse, and you’ll carry the hanged man’s body down to it. From now on, you’ll be able to interact with the body by interacting with the fridge. You’ll earn 30 xp for completing the task.
