Ask Rene about the Photo Walkthrough

Background

In the harbor, you’ll find the nightwatchman’s booth where Rene Arnoux works (#1). Inside, you’ll find a Photo of a Happy Couple. When you pick it up, Kim will ask you why you’re bothering with it. If you say that you want to ask Rene about it, then you’ll trigger this task. Otherwise, as long as you pick up the photo and have it in your inventory, you’ll still be able to ask Rene about it and complete the task.

Walkthrough

When you ask Rene (#2) about the photo (after first asking him about the guard booth), he’ll claim that the woman is “nobody,” and that he doesn’t want to talk about her. But his friend Gaston Martin will interject that the woman was named Jeanne-Marie Beaulieu, and that she definitely wasn’t nobody. This will complete the task and earn you 10 xp, but leave the story incomplete. If you want to learn more, then you should talk to Gaston. He’ll reveal that he and Rene loved Jeanne-Marie, but that she could never choose between them and eventually died two winters ago without marrying either one.
