You’ll trigger this task after completing the task Make Titus Give Up Ruby’s Location (#1).

Walkthrough

The only person in Martinaise West who will know anything about Ruby is Isobel the washerwoman (#3) — but she’ll refuse to confide in you. However, after talking to Isobel, if you have at least 2 Logic, then it will suggest that you search Isobel’s shack (#2). You can get this same hint by looking at the task objectives in your journal. Isobel will give you the key to her shack if you ask her for a place to stay.

Inside the shack, you’ll spot a loose floorboard. When you lift it up, you’ll find a 9mm Bullet hidden in the sand beneath it. When you ask Isobel about the bullet, she’ll get annoyed at Ruby for leaving it there, and she’ll tell you that Ruby went “further up the coast.” This revelation won’t help you much, but at the end of the conversation, if you have at least 0 Inland Empire, then it will suggest searching the mural on the Feld Building.

When you examine the mural (#5), you’ll get an “impossible” Shivers check. Luckily, you’ll get all sorts of bonuses for it by completing tasks in Martinaise West:

You can also get points for calling Dora using the payphone by the church (#4), for talking to Lena about the phasmid she might have seen as a child (#1), and for passing the Visual Calculus check at the bullet-ridden wall (#6).

Attempting the Shivers check will complete the task, whether you pass it or not. You’ll also earn 30 xp and trigger the task Look for Ruby on the Coast.
