Address Gaston’s Cheating in the Petanque Game Walkthrough

Background

In Martinaise East, you’ll meet Rene Arnoux and Gaston Martin (#1). They’ll be playing a game called petanque. After talking to Rene (and either joining in the game or refusing to get involved), you’ll be able to ask Gaston about the rules. If you insist that he tell you everything and then stand between the two men while having 7 Composure, then a thought orb will appear over your head. When you click on it, you’ll realize that Gaston is cheating. This will trigger the task.

Note: We had all sorts of trouble getting the Composure thought orb to appear. Either there is something else required (like “watching” the game for a while), or the orb is just finicky. If you have trouble with it, then try talking to the men for a while, or running between the men and the Whirling-in-Rags (#2), or just coming back later.

Walkthrough

When you confront Gaston about his cheating, he’ll deny it, but then Rene will reveal that he’s known about it all along. This will complete the task and earn you 10 xp.
