So now you’re going to revive JC here in Antarctica. Begin by talking with the Gray Leader, who will give you a quest to free a captive Gray near Tent 4 (shown on the map). Search the portal room for items, including the ones on the ledge above (jump and quickly snatch if you don’t have the Speed Enhancement Biomod). Exit through the door and continue north until you reach the open area, but stay hidden. There’s a Military Bot and 2 normal Templars ranging within sniping distance out in the open.
You’ll get a com from Billie on the way. Dispatch of the bot – there’s plenty of cover – and Templars (one on the right side and one on the left near the back) as you wish. Then head around the back of Tent 04 to the captive Gray in a holding cell. Use your multitools to open the door and free him/her/it. Notice the ladder on the side of the Tent 04 bungalow. Climb it and then drop down into the main office from the grate at the top. Billie Adams is on the holocomm, and you can find a BIOMOD CANISTER in the chest. Take the softkey to the Excavation Site from the desk, and prepare for a little battle in the next room.
Two Templars reside, along with a security camera – perfect for your Spy Drone, or any other method for that matter. Search the lockers for ammo if you need it, and then exit the Tent and proceed north to the Site X sign. Head through the door and take down the ground flame turret before proceeding past it.
Use the softkey you took from the desk on the next door, and proceed until you have a view of the open. A Power Armored Paladin (I’ll call them PAP’s) is walking a patrol near a repairbot. Note the weak spot on the PAP’s back, which is the area with the Triangle. They go down quicker if you can hit that spot. However, the Spy Drone, in combination with this repairbot, is by far the safest way of taking them down. After this first is down, use the repairbot, and look just over the ramp down to the rocket turret. Send your Spy Drone or EMP grenade that direction to take care of it, and proceed down… crouching to avoid any PAP eyes below.
On the next shelf are two more PAP’s. Use your Spy Drone (which should take two zaps for each with a level 3), or best grenades/weapons to take them down, recharge at the repairbot and continue down to where they were. Finally, on the carved valley floor is another PAP, but also a security camera overlooking the area. Take them down and proceed down to the purple Helios teleporter panel below. Use it to enter JC’s Sanctuary.
Upon entering, you’ll be given an objective by Tracer Tong to activate the 5 processing modules of the Helios AI. It’s actually very simple. First head left and speak with Ava Johnson using the holocomm, to confirm her as your pilot and set up your next objective. Notice JC suspended on the other side. By this time in the game, I’m literally filled with Canisters of both types and with full supplies of most all my other items. I usually don’t need to stock up. However, if you feel the need to get another couple Biomod Canisters, you can find the first below, but you’ll need to deal with two karkians and a greasel first. You can easily snipe them from above. Then head down the ladders nearby and find items on one end, and the BIOMOD CANISTER on the other.
When you’re ready, activate the Helios panel in the middle of the room to find yourself in JC’s memory of Maggie Chow’s apartment from the first game. After Billie coms you, talk to the Gray there to learn what’s up, and proceed to the end of the room. At the top of a bookshelf is the game’s next secret weapon, the Dragon Tooth Sword, a powerful nanotech sword from the first game. Exit the through the back door into another huge Helios chamber. The only things that can bother you are on the ground way below. You can again shoot them from up high and go down to get the items and BIOMOD CANISTER but I tend to skip them by now.
Touch the Helios panel again to transport yourself into an old UNATCO HQ office from the first game. Exit through the door, and again you’ll have the choice to go down below to pick up the items (and read the expedition logs) including a BIOMOD CANISTER on the opposite end from where it was before. Touch the Helios panel again and you’ll be inside of a 747 cabin. It’s only a short walk out, and you won’t have the items below. Get ready for a fight however, as when you touch the next panel you’ll be taken to JC’s memory of Area 51 and after you step forward, Billie will confront you. Teleport and remain still so that you can prepare, save your game, etc.
When you’re ready, step forward and a small cutscene will play. Either one of your choices will result in a fight. She’s incredibly easy however with the Biotox Attack Drone and Cloak. You’d just have to take care of her two spiderbots (which is easily done with Spy Drone), or simply avoid them. You can also avoid the fight by running away through the exit door and touching the next Helios panel. If you do fight, beware to get too close to the middle of the large room as there are ground turrets ready for you. When ready, activate the last Helios panel and you’ll be back in JC’s original Sanctuary. Head over to him and have a conversation, its length dependent on whether you decide to ask him questions or simply get down to business. He wants you to rescue Paul in Cairo.
After your conversation, exit JC’s Sanctuary and make your way back up until you find the repairbot. You’ll get a message from Saman asking you to meet him in Tent 04. Beyond the tunnel, and around the tent, are several PAP’s (Power Armored Paladins if you recall). You’ll want to have either Spy Drone, some nice weapons or Cloak to get past them. If you have none of these and are having trouble, consider simply running to the Versalife exit in the south, avoiding them all, including Saman’s holocomm in the tent. Spy Drone is again the easiest, since you have unlimited energy from this repairbot. There are 5 PAP’s altogether outside.
Send in your Drone repeatedly to take them down, then enter the Tent 04 through the front door and into the office at the back. Listen to Saman’s lecture and threats, and exit the building. You can check in on the Gray you rescued if you wish, but I prefer to let them alone. Head to the Versalife entrance to the south of Tent 04.
