Where to Find Skippy, The Talking Gun – Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Lots of the optional side-missions in Cyberpunk 2077 have unique or interesting rewards, but finding a talking gun in an alley might be the highlight of the side jobs. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find Skippy, and how to make the best use of him.

How to Find Skippy

Skippy can be found next to his most recent (and very deceased) owner in an alley in Heywood. The mission marker for Skippy is south of the College St. fast travel point in Vista Del Rey. You’ll find Skippy in an alleyway — you need to climb up some boxes and over a fence to reach him.

How to Use Skippy

Once you pick him up, you’ll have a fairly long conversation with Skippy. The important step comes when he asks you which mode you want to set him to: Stone Cold Killer, or Puppy-Loving Pacifist. The first option will have Skippy aim for the head, while the Pacifist choice means Skippy will aim for your enemies legs. The key thing to know here is that after 50 kills, Skippy will permanently switch to the mode you didn’t select. Essentially, if you want to use Skippy for awhile, select the Puppy-Loving Pacifist dialogue option.

Cyberpunk 2077 How to find Skippy 5

Because Skippy scales with your character level, he is useable the whole game, and can be very powerful in a revolver or smart-weapon focused build. The chatty gun has quite a few quirks, including firing on his own, missing intentionally, and making jokes and threats during combat. He also doesn’t require a smart-link to activate his smart-weapon automatic aiming.

It can sometimes be challenging to take down large groups of enemies with Skippy while he’s in Puppy-Loving Pacifist mode, since he only fires in three round bursts while you’re aiming down sights. To mitigate the challenge of only shooting enemies in the legs, you can hip-fire Skippy (i.e. fire him without aiming down sights). This has the dual advantage of letting you aim for the torso and head, and also allows you to fire Skippy on full-auto.

Skippy’s Quest

Once you’ve had Skippy for a few days, he will ask you to return him to his previous legitimate owner, who happens to be someone you probably know: Regina Jones, the Watson district fixer. This begins the quest “Machine Gun”, and if you don’t take Skippy to Regina, he’ll yell “Bad user!” at you until you do so. Once you take him to Regina, you’ll have the option to take 7,000 Eddies as a reward, or you may choose to keep Skippy (who gets renamed Daisy once Regina factory resets the gun).

That’s all the important info we’ve got on Skippy, let us know in the comments if you have any questions or if we missed anything!
