Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn – Matt Chat

Having started his Matt Chat show back in 2009, Matt Barton has now worked his way all the way up to episode 500. Over the years, this initially hobby project resulted in a treasure trove of insightful interviews with notable developers, plenty of videos spotlighting various RPGs, and even a book on the history of CRPGs.

So, for this landmark episode of the show, Matt decided to spend some time with a game many, including Matt himself, consider to be the best CRPG of all time – Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Which resulted in a neat four-and-a-half-hour-long episode.

Check it out:

For my 500th episode, what game could possibly be more appropriate than the best CRPG ever made? Baldur’s Gate 2! Is it perfect? No, but even its flaws make it more enjoyable to analyze than other games are to play! I’ve held off on covering it for a special episode, and 500 seemed like the perfect milestone. Enjoy!

If you like Matt Chat, don’t just watch–join the fun! Be part of the community! I could really use your help, and you’ll meet other like-minded people who enjoy these games and discussing the content on the official Matt Chat discord. Why wait? Get it done and join the party! Note – I’m aware that there’s a portion of the video about 3.20 hours in where the wiki obscures the game for a few minutes. Sorry about that.
