Overview

Korkorran’s Tomb is a part of Hexxat’s companion quest. You’ll be sent there by L to hunt down a rebellious lich named Korkorran.

While you’re exploring the tomb, you’ll encounter bone fiends (worth 12,000 xp), death tyrants (14,000 xp), greater mummies (8000 xp), and sand golems (14,000 xp). You’ll also repeatedly run into Phreya (#2), another one of L’s abandoned agents. She’ll attack you every time she spots you, but then she’ll disappear once she’s taken too much damage. During your second encounter with her (#2a), she’ll steal the Cloak of Dragomir from Hexxat.

Eventually, you’ll discover a room filled with necrotic fog (#6). Living creatures will take damage and get level drained if they try to pass through it, while undead creatures won’t have any problems at all. You can use Negative Plane Protection to avoid the level drains, but the damage will probably be so great that you’ll have to send Hexxat out on her own. She’ll run into some bone fiends during this time, including one named T’lassus of the Bones (#9). If Hexxat can’t kill these creatures on her own, then she can either lure them back to your party, or she can run ahead and flip the switch that will turn off the necrotic fog (#9). With your entire party together, the bone fiends shouldn’t pose any problem.

While dealing with the necrotic fog, you’ll also have to manage several overly-complicated linked doors (#5, #7). Opening and closing the first two doors (#5) will open or close the other doors (#5a, #5b), allowing Hexxat to reach the switch for the necrotic fog (#9). Flipping that switch will link two new doors (#7) to two of the other doors (#5a).

To open one of the new doors (#7), you’ll first have to open the doors they’re linked to (#5a) by opening or closing the original linked doors (#5), ideally while your party is standing in the room that previously contained the necrotic fog (#6). Next, you’ll need to send a character into the room with the new door. When that character manually closes the door on the western side of the room (#5a), the door on the eastern side (#7) will open. You’ll then be able to open or close the original doors (#5) to open the western door again, and the eastern door will remain open, allowing you to proceed forward with your entire party.

Past the linked doors, you’ll encounter Phreya one last time (#2d). She’ll have a duplicate of Korkorran with her, and the two of them will attack you. You’ll earn 20,000 xp when Phreya dies, and you’ll find Boots of Stealth: Worn Whispers and a Ring of Infravision: Topsider’s Crutch on her corpse. Hexxat will also take back the Cloak of Dragomir.

You’ll find Korkorran in the final chamber of his tomb (#10). He’ll talk to you when you arrive. If you avoid insulting or threatening him, then the two of you will have a long conversation, and at the end Korkorran will offer Hexxat what she’s been seeking from L — her mortality. However, if Hexxat agrees to his deal, then she’ll become mortal — but also age over 200 years and die. So don’t take the deal.

When the fight with Korkorran starts up, he’ll create a simulacrum of himself, but it probably won’t last very long, meaning you’ll end up with a standard battle against a single lich. Korkorran will do normal lich things — he’ll buff himself up, and he’ll cast high level spells (like Dragon’s Breath, Symbol, Death, and Time Stop) — but he’ll also quaff some potions to make the battle a little more difficult than usual. So buff up before facing him, and then breach his defenses and whack away at him with your weapons until he goes down.

When Korkorran dies, you’ll earn 25,000 xp, and L will take over his body. L will congratulate you for a job well done, and then he’ll teleport you out of the tomb.

Walkthrough

1 – Starting Point

2 – Phreya

You’ll meet Phreya a few times in the tomb. She’ll attack you each time, but you won’t be able to kill her until your final encounter with her. The other times, she’ll disappear once you’ve done enough damage to her.

The first time you meet Phreya (#2), she’ll reveal that she’s another one of L’s lost agents. The second time (#2a), she’ll steal the Cloak of Dragomir from Hexxat. The third time (#2b), Hexxat and Phreya will threaten each other. The fourth time (#2c), Phreya will get a little more serious, and she’ll have two death tyrants with her. The fifth and final time (#2d), Phreya will be with a lich pretending to be Korkorran, and you’ll finally be able to kill her. You’ll earn 20,000 xp when Phreya dies, and you’ll find Boots of Stealth: Worn Whispers and a Ring of Infravision: Topsider’s Crutch on her corpse. Hexxat will also take back the Cloak of Dragomir.

3 – Umolex

You’ll encounter the necromancer Umolex here. You’ll earn 22,000 xp when she dies, and you’ll find a Robe of the Evil Archmagi and the Journal of Umolex the Far-Eyed on her corpse. The journal will mention a “simulacrum creation” and a “masterful duplicate,” which you’ll encounter later on (#2d).

4 – Culak

In this lab, you’ll meet a gnome mage named Culak. He’ll seem nice enough at first, but no matter what you say to him, he and his pet spiders will attack you. You’ll earn 42,000 xp for winning the battle, and you’ll find a Girdle of Hill Giant Strength, a Mage Robe of Fire Resistance, and a Ring of Free Action: Edventar’s Gift on Culak’s corpse.

5 – Linked Doors

These five doors are linked together. Opening or closing the first two doors (#5) will flip the status of the other doors (#5a, #5b), closing the opened ones, and opening the closed ones.

6 – Necrotic Fog

7 – Linked Doors

These two doors will start out closed and locked and unlinked. To link them to the doors on the other side of the room (#5a), you’ll need to flip the switch to remove the necrotic fog (#9). Then to open the doors, you’ll first have to toggle the doors on the other side of the room (#5a) to open, by opening or closing the original linked doors (#5), and then you’ll need to send a character into the room and manually close the doors (#5a). This will open the newly-linked doors (#7). If you then toggle the original linked doors (#5), you’ll open the doors on the other side of the room (#5a) but the new doors (#7) will remain open, allowing you to proceed forward with your entire party.

8 – Locked Doors

There isn’t any way to open these doors.

9 – T’lassus of the Bones / Switch

Flipping the switch here will remove the necrotic fog (#6).

10 – Korkorran

I love RPGs, MMOs, and weird little indie games. Anything that lets me build and decorate or just has a really good story. I've spent hundreds of hours in Bethesda games and even more time modding them. I also play a lot of World of Warcraft.
