PC Games of Spring 2010

IGN continues to profile the highest profile titles of 2010’s second quarter, and this time it’s the PC platform under the microscope. Alpha Protocol, Arcania: A Gothic Tale, Majesty 2: Kingmaker, and Mytheon are all included:

What It Is: This story gets a little complicated, but basically after the technical mess that was Gothic 3, franchise developer Piranha Bytes went off and made Risen. JoWood held onto the Gothic name and fiction and with developer Spellbound began production on what’s more or less the fourth game in the saga, called Arcania. So what is it? It’s an open-world, Western-styled role-playing game.

Why It’s Hot: It’ll be really interesting to see what winds up happening with this game and franchise. Assuming everything goes well, Arcania could turn out to be an immersive romp through a fantasy wilderness with plenty of combat, character customization, questing, and magic-slinging. This one’s been delayed a few times, so hopefully production is still going smoothly.
