Alpha Protocol Release Date Announced

WorthPlaying brings word from the SEGA Gamers Day event that Obsidian Entertainment’s spy-themed RPG Alpha Protocol is scheduled for a February 2009 release date.

SEGA has teamed up with Obsidian, who is also working on the Aliens RPG for SEGA, to develop its new 3rd person espionage focused action/RPG. Taking you on a suspenseful ride in the vein of James Bond, Jack Bauer, and Jason Bourne, Alpha Protocol has you work your way up the ranks as rookie agent Michael Thorton to become a bona-fide super spy.

Loyalty carries a price and no one knows this more than agent Michael Thorton. A talented young agent cast out by his government, Thorton is the only one with the information needed to stop an impending international catastrophe. To do so means he must cut himself off from the very people he is sworn to protect. As players determine how to accomplish different objectives, the decisions made and actions taken in each mission will ultimately transform the type of secret agent Michael Thorton will become. Every choice the player makes as Michael Thorton will carry consequences for his future and the fate of the world.

Alpha Protocol is slated for a February 2009 release for the Xbox 360, the PS3 and PC.

Works for me. Let’s just hope someone at the top doesn’t reconsider and decide to rush it for a 2008 holiday release.
