X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse Reviews

Four more reviews for Activision and Raven’s X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse hit the web earlier this week. The first is at Yahoo! Games with an overall score of 4/5 for the PSP version:

Thankfully, those quirks don’t drag X-Men Legends II down too far, and can certainly be overlooked with such strong gameplay. There’s no question that X-Men Legends II is an improvement on its console predecessors — now it’s even better with a PSP version, so you can take your mayhem with you.

The second is at Xbox Evolved with an overall score of 8.6/10:

I still miss some of my favorite X-men that appeared in the original such as Emma Frost, Psylocke and Beast. Though their loss isn’t one that is sorely missed, I’d love to have seen Raven round out the roster with at least an even twenty mutants and have a few more unlockable rather then give the gamers everything right off the bat. Gameplay pretty much remains the same but the presentation is ten times better. Not a dramatic improvement overall though, but if you are a fan of the series (X-men that is), RPGs, or just need a new game for the Xbox (not too many currently releasing that are ‘˜AAA’), I suggest you pick up X-Men Legends II.

The third is at Extreme Gamer with an overall score of 8/10:

X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse keeps up with the original and gives gamers more of the same marvel experience. Teaming up the X-Men with the Brotherhood gives the player lots of choices while wrapping in the game around one of the best X-Men storylines of Apocalypse and his horesemen is awesome. If you haven’t played an X-Men Legends game grab this one up you won’t be disappointed.

And the fourth is at DailyGame with an overall score of 8.0/10:

But at least X-Men Legends 2 has online co-op, and for that, gamers have to be appreciative. Likewise, Activision has released a suitable sequel to X-Men Legends, one with a few gameplay tweaks and an original story, and for that, fans of the X-Men franchise have to be appreciative. Hardcore action-RPG fans, meanwhile, have surely played games that are just as good if not better in the gameplay category, but this new action-RPG option is something they can be appreciative of, even if it’s not the penultimate game in the genre.
