Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Console Reviews

A few more reviews of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel have surfaced, now that the console versions have made their way to store shelves.

First we have 1UP, who pretty much copied their old PC review and gave the game an “A-“:

Sacred 2 turns out to be a great couch game, largely because you can play co-op with a friend at your side. But the real surprise is that the folks at Ascaron managed to create a mostly great interface for the XB360 and PS3 controller, giving you faster and easier access to more combat abilities than you could use in the PC version. I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t think I can go back to playing Sacred 2 on the PC. The price paid for more combat abilities is the occasional graphics hiccup and slightly more hassle when it comes to inventory management, but you’re going to sell most of that stuff anyway.

Then we have IGN with a 6.5/10:

For players looking for an action-RPG loot grind offering plenty of gameplay hours, enemies to kill, and numerous ways to kill them, you’ll find it in Ascaron’s Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. You’ll also find an inconvenient interface, mediocre visuals, and a few technical drawbacks that keep this from really being a standout experience. The story and the game’s eccentric, seemingly random sense of humor could provide satisfaction for some, but ultimately it lacks the character and strength required to keep any solo-type of player engaged. The true draw here is the combat and class customization, so if you’ve got a few friends around, it could serve as a solid distraction for a while with its options for online play while you wait for something better to come along.

And, finally, Game Almighty with a 6.8/10:

The game manages to doll out experience and up your stats at a pace that keeps the difficulty and challenge pretty fun not only for you, but for friends as well. One of the Sacred 2 features Ascaron is most proud of is the multiplayer. Fallen Angel is setup in such a way that one can seamlessly transition between single player and multiplayer gaming. So even if you have been landing hits on harpies and successfully smashing skeletons on your own for an hour, friends can meet up with you pretty easily and start lopping off limbs. Whether they be your own, or someone else’s is a choice made by whoever designates their machine as the server and hosts the free play, cooperative campaign, or PvP game types. This can be with two friends on the same system or up to 4 online and it was fairly easy either way. That’s good because whether you’re trading items, combining magical attacks, or dishing out some well-deserved humble pie, multiplayer is the best reason to get Sacred 2. And if you are a fan of this action-oriented sub-section of the RPG genre, Fallen Angel isn’t just one of the only examples in town, it’s also a pretty decent one.
