Horizons: Empire of Istaria Q&A

GamerGod has published a Q&A with Tulga Games’ Adrian LaVallee, in which the developer talks about housing in Horizons: Empire of Istaria. Check it out:

Q: The renewal of available plots by auctioning expired account plots has been completed. Has the remaining community reacted positively to this? Have you had many complaints from returning characters?

A: This was a feature which was long overdue. A lot of the appeal of the plots and communities in Horizons is their dynamic nature. By making sure that “vacant” plots are auctioned off, it prevents the world from becoming stagnant and allows newer players the same opportunity to buy a piece of land and make it their own. While some existing players may have temporarily lamented the loss of a long-used machine or NPC on a reclaimed plot, I think now the focus has shifted to excitement about the opportunity to reshape communities to be even more useful.

We send emails to players in advance of their “expired” plot going for auction; many such players have taken advantage of that information to return to Istaria and continue developing their real estate rather than see it sold off. Those who return after the reclaiming of their plot will be able to take comfort in the fact that they received the proceeds from their former plot’s auction, thus giving them ample capital to invest into a new community and begin building up again.
