Fable: The Lost Chapters Reviews

The weekend kicks off with a handful of positive reviews for Lionhead Studios’ soon-to-be-released Fable: The Lost Chapters. The first is at GameSpot with an overall score of 8.6/10:

Fable is an imaginative game that’s got enough remarkable, unique moments in it to make it shine. That many of these moments happen to be good for a laugh is all the better. It’s true that the game’s high points are not always frequent–its ambitions are evident but not always fulfilled, and the pervasively playful spirit of the game sometimes is mired by convention. These trespasses are more than excusable, though. Regardless of how much time you ultimately spend playing Fable, you’re not likely to forget the experience for a long while.

The second is at IGN PC with an overall score of 8.7/10:

If you’re one of the unfortunate gamers who never had a chance to experience Fable on the Xbox, you owe it to yourself to pick up the PC version and discover all that it has to offer. Though it lacks the massive scale of Morrowind or the dense story of Knights of the Old Republic, Fable makes up for it with loads of style and atmosphere. At every turn the world feels wonderfully alive and the consequences of your actions have a real and obvious impact on the world around you. The identification you build with your character is stronger than in any other RPG I’ve ever played. After all, isn’t that what roleplaying games ought to be about?

The third is at ConsoleGold with an overall score of 80%:

I installed this game, half expecting the same experience that I found in the PC port of Knights of the Old Republic. It didn’t completely disappoint me. It definitely lacks in some areas, but it isn’t a horrendous game. If you want a story that really draws you in to the character and gives you the classic Good/Evil conflict, go play Knights of the Old Republic. If you are here looking for another good fantasy hack’n’slash, then this should not disappoint you too badly, and the time investment isn’t so high you will cringe when you think of playing it again. And finally, if you played the original game, and expect this to radically change the game, then look elsewhere. The added content isn’t enough of a new story to change your opinion of the game.

The fourth is at Happy Puppy with an overall score of 8.9/10:

Fable: The Lost Chapters is an experience that is truly as you make it out and behold it to be. It allows your imagination to run as wild or as limited as you wish. To me, that’s the mark of an incredible game.

And the fifth is at Gamebiz with an overall score of 8.5/10:

Fable is a very easy game to pick up – good-looking and very playable. It was certainly extremely enjoyable, and quite funny. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s not really a challenging game for hardcore gamers, but it’s certainly a fun game for anyone. Rushing through the main story line will take you 15 hours at best, but there are plenty of optional entertainments to keep you occupied along the way.
