Demigod Reviews

A few more fairly enthusiastic reviews of Demigod have hit the web, though the game’s multiplayer issues continue to be a sticking point.

First up is Kotaku, where no score is given:

Demigod has the potential to be a truly great game; it just isn’t quite there yet. It’s got a unique sort of gameplay that successfully blends aspects of several different genres into a completely compelling, suprisingly deep, and utterly addictive multiplayer experience. Unfortunately the focus here is on multiplayer. With very little offered in the way of a single player game, Gas Powered Games is obviously banking on Demigod’s online aspect, and quite frankly that isn’t working at the moment.

Then we have Gas Bandit Gaming, who give it a “B”:

Demigod looks complicated but is actually a very quick and simple game. Such a game is fine so long as replayability is there, and Demigod has aspects that encourage that replayability such as multiple diverse player characters and an achievement system. A narrow selection of available playfields hurts it some. The game is pretty and sounds good, but it’s very much on the casual side of the spectrum. I’d pay 20 bucks for it and not feel out of sorts. Maybe not so for $40+ however.

And then GameZone rolls in with an 8.7/10:

The main problem with this game is that it is extremely unreliable when players try to connect to the multiplayer service. This is a shame because this is where the majority of player’s time will be spent. Hopefully this flaw will be fixed as this game is a blast to play!
